In this third event of the Interview Secrets series, we bring to you an inside look of data science and analytics roles in industry from several of our Columbia alumni, and of what hiring managers look for in candidates for these roles.
About the panelists:
Alyce Ge (B.S. APAM ’18) is a machine learning engineer at Cherre, a real estate data connection company. At Cherre, she works on NLP and analytics projects using public data. Prior to Cherre, she also worked in analytics in Ten-X Commercial, a real estate auction company, and in data science at CB Insights, a private market data provider.
Charles Yolen is an experienced Data Scientist focusing on Monetization and Product Development at Snapchat located in Santa Monica. His current work includes A/B Testing, Data Engineering, Causal Inference, & Statistical Modeling. Prior to joining Snap in 2016, Charles graduated from Columbia University’s School of Engineering & Applied Sciences with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. Outside of all things data, Charles enjoys creating & listening to music, reading, and spending time outside. He currently serves as a member of the Columbia Engineering Young Alumni Board and resides in Los Angeles, California.
Shouryadipta (Shourya) Sarkar is a graduate of the MS&E program, who currently works as a Product Manager with the UN Development Programme, managing a quantitative risk analytics product used for multidimensional risk analysis. In his free time, he loves exploring new places to eat, gaming and kayaking rapids.
